Hello. My name is Joe and I am a Driver-aholic.
Let's face it. For most of us, the driver is the bad tequila we do shots of at the end of the night because we are too drunk to know any better. If you are like me you swore off tequila in high school…I mean college…I mean hypothetically...sorry mom. Yet we still punish ourselves by hitting driver any and every chance we get.
We don't even mind a long par 3 that demands driver. Yes. We have a problem.
So if the first step is realizing you have a problem, what is the second one? If it means no longer hitting the big dog, then I'll live the rest of my life in a ranch thank you very much. If the second step is being a little bit more selective on when I hit driver….then I'm listening.
Think of the amount of drivers you hit much like the amount of calories you want to eat. We all look at that "based on a 2,000 calorie diet" sentence on food and chuckle, but what if you were really trying to loose weight (lower your score)? Maybe eating 2000 or fewer calories (hitting less then 14 drivers per 18 holes) could do us some good.
So next time you are out at the club/course I have two challenges for you. Hit less drivers and eat less calories.
JL
