Why I love golf and you do too.
Golf is like life. All of us who play know this. But do we realize it? Seriously. Do you realize it? Life is our 18 holes.
Some of us struggle on the font and crush it on the back.
Some of us have the front nine given to us, and waste it away on the back.
Others grind it out and although they shoot 75 it feels like a 65.
And a couple people just tear it up. They put up the proverbial 59 and we gaze in amazement thinking "I wish I could do that.
But what sucks about life is we only get 18 holes. Some even less. Some don't even get to make the turn. Some barely make it down the first.
But for those of you reading this (and me the person writing this), we are still hacking it around. Trying our best. Searching for perfection in a world in which perfection is defined by the person searching for it yet never granted by that very same person.
That's why we love the game of golf. We get to live golf/life over and over again in the form of a round. The rounds in which we fail we try to forget. The great ones we relish and relive. Some we quit early. Others we wish could go on for ever. And don't forget about the emergency 9! Imagine if life gave you an extra day or so to make things right.
Unfortunately like golf, life is not completely under our control. This doesn't mean you shouldn't try to control it. You should. You should work hard. Bust a--. Try. Try again. Then again.
Educate yourself and your children. Help others. Help yourself. Be kind. Be Nice.
Because in the end that's all you get to do in golf and life. Enjoy it or not.
Either way, it's gonna happen.
Either way, it's gonna happen.
