Everyone just calm down. Calm the flop shot down. Let's put a little perspective on this whole Tiger Woods withdrawing situation.
Fact #1: He's 41years old. I'm on the verge of 37 and although in pretty remarkable shape, my back gets a little twingey after a large bucket of balls.
Fact #2: He did just come back from a long layoff, played the week before on a very demanding track, and then traveled across the globe....FLYING COMMERCIAL FOR GOODNESS SAKES!!!
Fact #3: He didn't play well in round one. His stats weren't bad, he just didn't have it. We've all been there. Many of us LIVE there. We just aren't used to Tiger being there. Get used to it. Think of when Rocky cut Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. Tiger is no longer a machine.
Fact #4: I called up my friend in Dubai who is part Jawa and even he said he wasn't going outside yesterday. He added that the weather would make Tatooine look like Bora Bora. He's funnier then most Jawas.
Fact #5: Tiger doesn't need to play. If you were a billionaire, knew you weren't making the cut, your back was a little sore, and the weather was going to be horrendous...you would WD too. Yes you would. Yes. Stop it. You would.
So what do I think "WD" really stands for? How about "Win Delayed"! I have no doubt the Big Cat will be in the winner circle again, but the days of 8 or 9 wins a season are long gone. Like all the other golfers in the world, he will have to endure a lot of bad golf waiting on a little good golf.
